When Franz Ferdinand’s now iconic song ‘Take Me Out’ began playing in 2004, it was clear that a new chapter in rock history had begun. The Scots had a clear vision from the start: to replace the rigidity of masculine rock with something sophisticated. And unlike many of their colleagues, they actually succeeded in this proven difficult task. With their distinctive mix of smart art school rock, dance music and dub, Franz Ferdinand came to lead 00s and 10s indie rock and thus remind the world that it is perfectly possible to make guitar music that makes one think, cry as well as dance.

When Franz Ferdinand’s self-titled debut was released in 2004, the band was on everyone’s lips. Critics and listeners agreed that the band was one of the best and most important of its time – a status that was cemented on the sequel ‘You Could Have It So Much Better’ (2005) with songs such as ‘Do You Want To’ and ‘Walk Away’. The band has since released three excellent albums where they successfully explored a more electronic sound on their latest studio album ‘Ascending’ (2018). Now it’s time for Franz Ferdinand to close and release a greatest hits record. This is celebrated with a tour and a gig in The Ballroom at Berns on November 14, 2022, tickets out now!
